Want to lower your energy bill with solar, even in an apartment?
It’s easier than you think with Apartment Solar!
What is Apartment.Solar?
After struggling to find solar options that worked for my apartment, I decided to share what I learned, so other renters can plug into the sun too.
I test products to find the right mix of features to make them well suited to live next to your TV, do their thing automatically, and not sounds like a jets taking off because their fans are dramatic.
The goal is a simple solution designed to offload as much power from the grid as it can, saving you $$$.

So How does this work?
Apartment Solar Setup Made Easy
With just a few simple components, you can power an entire room, like your living room, with a battery power station, portable solar panels, and your regular wall outlet. Just plug it in once, configure the app, and you're done!
The result?
Automatically offload energy usage to the sun, saving you an easy $20–$80 per month on your electricity bill, all without lifting a finger after initial setup.
You can totally do this! ☀️🔋
The key battery features to make this work:
Choosing the right battery makes it easy:
Start small and grow: Begin with a simple setup and add more solar panels or battery storage as you go.
Plug everything into one battery: Plug in solar panels and the devices you want to power into one little box and plug that into a power outlet in your home.
Set and forget: Configure it to run on solar first, only switching to grid/ wall power if the battery dips below 5%.
That’s it!
After the quick setup, you’ll enjoy lower energy bills automatically, with your devices running on solar most of the time and seamlessly falling back to wall power when needed.
And since it’s all portable, you can easily take your setup with you when you move or travel!
Renter Friendly Solar Panel Tips
My goals for a solar panel are:
Portable
Skip the Permit Process. Because portable solar panels are designed for temporary use, they generally do not fall under the strict regulations governing permanent roof installs. Enjoy the freedom of solar without the paperwork.
Bonus: Easily move your solar setup when you move
Durable
Consider Fiberglass & Aluminum for durability (We want this investment to last as long as possible)
Shy away from Glass (👎🏻 cracks) & Laminated fabric frames (👎🏻 lamination separation)
Anchor-ability
Think, How can I secure this? Ideally this is easy to install / secure in a temporary way
Look for Sturdy legs that sand bags or water bags can be placed on to secure the panel
Mounting holes? If you plan to hang it on the side a balcony for example.
